Frequently Asked Questions

If I purchase the Core plan, will I need to immediately pay more in order to upload some assets?

All Nira plans, including the Core plan, come with 20 Gallery assets. This means that you can upload up to 20 Gallery assets to your account and will still only have to pay for the Core plan itself — nothing additional. It’s worth noting that Gallery assets lack certain features when compared to Premium assets. To learn more about these differences, please refer to the questions and answers below.

Does Enterprise come with everything?

No, some features are optional upgrades. Please contact us for a price quote to enable additional features.

Can I install Nira on-prem or within my organization's preferred cloud service provider?

Yes. There are additional licensing fees associated with these types of deployments. Please contact us for more information.

What's the difference between a Gallery asset and a Premium asset?

Who can find my Public Gallery assets?

Anyone who visits your Nira page can access your Public Gallery assets. Moreover, your Public Gallery page may be indexed by search engines, or featured on our homepage or social media. Your Public Gallery assets should be content that you are comfortable with anyone finding and viewing. A Premium asset is the appropriate choice when any level of privacy is required for it.

What happens if I need more than the 20 included Gallery assets?

If adding another Gallery asset would exceed your account’s Gallery asset capacity, you’ll be asked if you’d like to purchase more. Adding more capacity is only $5/month per 10 assets. If you prefer not to buy additional Gallery asset capacity, you can alternatively delete an existing Gallery asset or convert one to a Premium asset. This will make a space available for your new Gallery asset.

Note, Gallery asset capacity is sold in increments of 10. When you purchase capacity for 10 more Gallery assets and use only one, the remaining 9 will be available for your future usage. For more information, see What is a Public Gallery asset?

How does the $49 flat-rate option for Premium assets work?

When you add a Premium asset to your account, you will have the choice of using your storage pool or using a flat-rate payment. If you choose the flat-rate payment, you’ll be prompted to confirm a one-time $49 charge for the asset. Any asset purchased using the flat-rate payment option will maintain its premium features for as long as you continue your Nira subscription at your current plan level (e.g. Core, Business, or Enterprise). More Info

How does the expandable asset storage pool for Premium assets work?

Your account has an expandable storage pool that can store triangles, textures, and photos. When you add a Premium asset to your account, you will have the option to use this storage pool. If you pick this option, the asset will consume a portion of the pool. How much of your pool is consumed will depend on how many triangles, photo pixels, and texture pixels your asset has.

What if I want to add a Premium asset using my storage pool, but my storage pool is too small?

You will be asked if you would like to expand your storage pool by an appropriate amount to accommodate the asset. If you don’t want to expand your storage pool, you can alternatively delete one or more of the existing Premium assets that are utilizing your storage pool. This will free up some storage space for your new Premium asset. More Info

How much will it cost to expand my Premium asset storage pool?

You can expand your storage pool in increments of 50M triangles ($4/mo or $3/mo paid annually), 5GP of textures ($4/mo or $3/mo paid annually), or 10GP of photos ($1/mo or $1/mo paid annually). Due to this increment-based sizing, you may have some extra space left after expanding your pool and adding an asset to it. Any remaining space can be used for other assets.

How much storage pool capacity is already included with each plan?

The Business plan includes 200 Million triangles, 20 Gigapixels of Textures, and 20 Gigapixels of Photos. The Core plan does not include any initial storage pool capacity, but you can always add as much as you’d like. Enterprise plans allow for customization of the initial storage pool size. More Info

Will Gallery assets consume my storage pool?

No, Gallery assets do not use your storage pool. Your storage pool will only be consumed if you pick the “Usage asset storage” option while adding a Premium asset. More Info

Will Premium assets that I purchase using the flat-rate option consume my storage pool?

No. Your storage pool will only be consumed if you pick the “Usage asset storage” option while adding a Premium asset. More Info

Do I need to use the storage pool for Premium assets? I prefer the simplicity of the flat-rate option.

Using the expandable storage pool for Premium assets not required. It is totally fine to only use the flat-rate option for your Premium assets. For more information, see Premium Assets: Use asset storage or a flat-rate payment

Can I decrease the size of my storage pool after deleting assets?

Yes. Visit your billing page, use the − (minus) buttons next to the capacity types you want to decrease, then press the “Change Capacity” button. You will receive a prorated statement credit. The credit will automatically be applied towards future billing periods, but will not be refunded back to your payment method.

Is there a file or asset size limit for assets?

Each Gallery asset that you upload can have a maximum of 300 million triangles, 20 gigapixels of textures, and 20 gigapixels of photos.

For Premium assets that use your storage pool, there are no hard limits or maximums. For Premium assets that use the $49 flat-rate option, it depends upon which plan you’re subscribed to. With the Nira Core plan, the maximums for the $49 flat-rate option are 50 million triangles, 5 GP of Textures, and 10 GP of Photos. For the Business plan, the maximums for the $49 flat-rate option are 200 million triangles, 10 GP of Textures, and 20 GP of Photos. If your asset exceeds any of these maximums, you can either use your storage pool or we can provide you a quote for a one-time payment for the asset (More Info). For Enterprise plans, both the flat-rate payment amount and the maximums can be customized.

If I want to embed asset(s) into my website, which plan should I get? Can both Premium and Public Gallery assets be embedded?

To embed an asset viewer directly into your own website, you must be subscribed to a Business plan. Additionally, the asset that you wish to embed must be a Premium asset. During a Nira trial, you can embed any asset into your own website, which allows you to test the embed feature prior to purchasing a plan.

Note, the paragraph above only applies to embedding; All plans and asset types allow you to have a text or image link on your web page or social media that will open an asset in Nira.

Are there limits to asset view counts?

Generally, we do not limit view counts. In fact, showcasing your models on social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter) is encouraged, so feel free to do so. Please contact us if you plan to link to or embed a Nira asset in a high traffic space (e.g., e-commerce website, popular news outlet, publication, or for any NFT/blockchain purpose). We may ask for you to upgrade if view counts are exceedingly high. Anything involving human nudity, injury, or death is strictly prohibited from public sharing.

Why do I need to add users?

User accounts allow for granular access control over your organization’s assets, and are also central to all of the collaborative functionalities like Markups, Callouts, Inspection Reporting, and Commenting (Commenting coming soon). For more information on user accounts, please see our help article.

What applications does Nira support?

Nira supports all applications that can output 3D mesh data as either an OBJ, STL, PLY, USD/USDC/USDA/USDZ, ABC, DAE, FBX, glTF, GLB, MA/MB, BLEND, IFC, DXF, or ZPR/ZTL. We suggest using OBJ when exporting from most applications, especially photogrammetry applications (e.g., RealityCapture, 3DF Zephyr, ContextCapture, Agisoft Metashape, DJI Terra, or Pix4DMapper). Read more about our support for particular applications here, and our support for various file formats here, including camera and 2D images (i.e., textures, photos, and orthomosaic).

Will the viewing experience be impacted if I upload more triangles, textures, or photos?

You may upload an unlimited amount of textures and photos without adversely affecting viewing performance or load times. For optimal viewing experience and faster load times, we do recommend keeping the number of triangles in each asset to 400 million or fewer. With that said, we’ve seen assets with 1 billion or more triangles perform quite well.

Why does Nira often refer to triangles and gigapixels rather than file sizes?

Triangle and pixel counts more accurately reflect the server resources needed to store and display your assets. As an example, it’s possible for a 16K PNG texture to be as large as 500+ MB or as small as 1 MB. However, viewing a 16K texture in Nira requires the same amount of resources, regardless of file size.

What is a Gigapixel?

A Gigapixel (GP) is just another way of saying 1 Billion pixels. A texture or photograph size is typically measured in Megapixels (MP) – millions of pixels. A single 8K (8,192 × 8,192 pixels) texture is 67.11 MP. Most photos range between 12 MP – 20 MP, though some high-end sensors capture at 100 MP or more per photo. A single 32K texture is equal to exactly 1 GP, as is 16 × 8K textures or 50 × 20 MP photos. An orthomosaic image can far exceed multiple GP. Nira supports assets with an unlimited amount of textures and photos.

How does billing work and what are my payment options?

I'm on a monthly plan. How am I billed when I expand my storage pool, add Gallery assets, or add users partway through my billing period?

You’ll pay a prorated amount based on the remaining time in your current monthly billing period. For example, if you expand your storage pool with 10 days left in your monthly billing period, you’ll only pay for those 10 days. Prorated amounts are calculated down to the second that you made the change.

I'm on a yearly plan. How am I billed when I expand my storage pool, add Gallery assets, or add users partway through my billing period?

You’ll pay a prorated amount based on the remaining time in your current yearly billing period. For example, if you expand your storage pool with 75 days left in your yearly billing period, you’ll only pay for those 75 days. Prorated amounts are calculated down to the second that you made the change.

What are my payment options?

We support Credit and Debit cards – Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, and JCB. Please contact us if you prefer to pay via ACH, bank wire transfer, or an alternative method.

What are my downgrade plans and cancel options?

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan later?

Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time by contacting us. Plan upgrades and downgrades do not change your billing period (yearly or monthly), and work as follows:

  • For plan upgrades: You’ll receive a billing statement the day after your plan upgrade. The statement will show a prorated credit for the remainder of your old plan and prorated charge for the new plan. The balance due will be charged to your payment method.
  • For plan downgrades: You’ll receive a billing statement the day after your plan downgrade. The statement will show a prorated credit for the remainder of your old plan along with details about your new plan. You will receive a prorated statement credit, which will automatically be used to decrease the amount due in future billing periods but will not be refunded back to your payment method. Please note, Premium assets added using the flat-rate payment option while on a higher plan will not maintain their Premium status during a plan downgrade

What if I decide to cancel?

You may cancel at any time. Your subscription will remain active until the end of your current billing period.

Do you offer any discounts?

Upfront yearly billing provides up to a 33% discount over monthly billing, and there are further discounts on asset storage pool capacity when using annual billing. Feel free to reach out with specific questions about pricing.
